Want to work closer to the core of Android – where software meets hardware?

At YORA, we’re looking for an Android Platform Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to help build the platform foundation for next-generation automotive infotainment systems.

This is not a traditional Android app development role. You’ll work deeper in the Android stack with AOSP, C++, HALs and platform-level functionality, building software that runs in real vehicles.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll join an experienced engineering environment working with Android at platform level, contributing to the development and evolution of an Android Automotive-based infotainment platform.

Your work will span from Android system services and frameworks to native components and hardware abstraction layers. You’ll collaborate closely with other software engineers as well as teams working with hardware, integration and validation.

A big part of the role is understanding how the different layers of Android interact – and being curious enough to dig into the system when something doesn’t behave as expected.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Develop and maintain Android platform functionality based on AOSP

• Work with Android Framework, system services and native C++ components

• Develop and integrate HALs (Hardware Abstraction Layers)

• Work with hardware and platform APIs in an automotive environment

• Support Android version upgrades, API changes and platform migrations

• Debug issues across different layers of the Android stack

• Contribute to design discussions, code reviews and technical improvements

• Work with automated builds, testing and CI/CD

• Collaborate with software, hardware and validation teams

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You probably have around 4–5 years of professional software development experience and have already spent a meaningful part of that time working with Android beyond the application layer.

We believe you have experience with:

• Android/AOSP platform development

• C++ development and debugging

• HAL development or integration

• Android Framework and/or Android system services

• Embedded software development

• Python

• CI/CD, preferably Jenkins

• Linux-based development environments

• Professional communication in English

Experience from automotive, infotainment or other embedded Android environments is highly relevant.

NICE TO HAVE

It’s a plus if you’ve worked with one or several of the following:

• Android Automotive / AAOS

• AIDL or HIDL

• Vehicle HAL / VHAL

• Android OS upgrades and platform migrations

• Qualcomm SoCs

• Linux kernel

• AOSP build systems

• Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Audio or GNSS

• System UI or Power Management

You don’t need to tick every box. What matters most is that you have a solid foundation in Android platform development and C++, enjoy understanding systems in depth and are comfortable solving problems where software and hardware meet.

You’re comfortable taking ownership of technical problems, but you also enjoy working together with others. You communicate clearly, share what you know and aren’t afraid to dive into an unfamiliar part of the system when needed.
