Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric & Lakehouse

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will join a cross-functional team developing data solutions within the defense technology domain.

Your focus will be on designing and building data pipelines, data products, and scalable data architectures that make information easier to process, manage, and use.

You will work across data engineering, cloud platforms, data modeling, and distributed processing, with opportunities to contribute to solutions involving machine learning and AI engineering.

The role combines hands-on development with architectural thinking, where data quality, maintainability, and efficient data processing are central to building reliable solutions.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products

• Develop data processing solutions using Python and PySpark

• Work with Microsoft Fabric and modern data platform technologies

• Design and implement ETL pipelines and data models

• Contribute to Lakehouse and Medallion data architectures

• Work with distributed data processing and modern storage formats such as Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg

• Develop and orchestrate data workflows using tools such as Apache Airflow

• Implement and improve data quality, testing, and validation processes

• Contribute to CI/CD practices for data engineering workflows

• Collaborate with engineers and specialists across data, cloud, and AI disciplines

What we’re looking for

You have a strong technical background in data engineering and enjoy building scalable, well-structured data solutions.

We believe you bring several of the following:

• At least 5 years of experience in data-related roles, such as Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or ML Engineer

• Strong programming skills in Python

• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric

• Solid experience with data modeling and ETL pipelines

• Understanding of modern data architectures, including Medallion and Lakehouse

• Experience with PySpark and distributed data processing

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

• Knowledge of Delta tables, Apache Iceberg, or S3-based data architectures

• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow

• Experience with data quality frameworks and data testing

• Understanding of CI/CD in modern data environments

Experience within Machine Learning or AI Engineering, including technologies such as RAG pipelines, is also highly relevant.

You don't need to have worked with every technology listed above. We value strong data engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply your expertise across different tools and environments.
